On November 6, 2012, Washington State voters legalized the sale of recreational marijuana in their state. Along with Colorado that same night, Washington bucked federal law to become a cannabis trailblazer.



Colorado became one of the first two states to legalize recreational marijuana use on the historic date of November 6, 2012. Along with Washington, Colorado voters passed Amendment 64 in defiance of federal law and made it legal for adults to buy and consume marijuana bought from licensed, legal stores.



Oregon has long been at the forefront of the pro-legalization movement, and on November 4, 2014, took the step to become one of the first states to legalize the possession, use, and sale of recreational marijuana.



On November 4, 2014, the state of Alaska voted to legalize the possession, consumption, cultivation, and recreational sale of marijuana within its borders by passing Measure 2. That night, along with Oregon and Washington, D.C., Alaska joined 2012 trailblazers …

On November 4, 2014, Washington, DC made history by legalizing marijuana in our nation’s capitol. Initiative 71 passed by an overwhelming margin – nearly 70% “Yes” votes – and so the District of Columbia joined Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington State in ending prohibition within their borders.
